Every update from your suppliers is checked against your standards, kept above your minimum margin and approved by you before it touches your store or Google — with a preview before anything changes and undo if it’s wrong.
The same four steps for every supplier file and every product you already sell.
Upload a supplier CSV or Excel file. Catalyn maps the columns for you — in any language — and remembers the mapping for next time.
Every product is checked against the rules you set for its category — barcodes, images, alt text, description length, required attributes — and against what Google Shopping and AI shopping assistants need.
See exactly what will change in Shopify, field by field, before you approve it. Products with blocking issues stay out until they’re fixed.
Approved changes go to Shopify in one batch. If something’s wrong, undo the whole update.
For growing stores with a few hundred to a few thousand products and more than one supplier.
We looked at the public catalogs of 46 independent Shopify retailers selling 300–5,000 products from five or more brands.
Paxworks research, October 2026, based on public storefront data only (barcodes and alt text sampled from 20 products per store). Missing barcodes aren’t always wrong — own-brand items may not have one — which is why Catalyn’s rules support exemptions.
Install, and Catalyn scans your whole catalog for free. Subscribe when you want to fix what it finds and run supplier imports.
Launch pricing in USD, billed through Shopify — may change before launch. 7-day free trial on paid plans. Plans count products, not variants.
Import is the start, not the point. Plenty of apps can push a spreadsheet into Shopify. Catalyn checks every product against your rules first, shows you exactly what will change, and only publishes what you approve — with undo.
Yes. Every product is checked against what Google Merchant Center needs, including fields you set in Shopify’s Google & YouTube app, and the dashboard shows how many products are ready. Catalyn checks that the data is there; it doesn’t send your feed (Shopify’s Google & YouTube channel does that), and Google still makes its own approval decisions. You can also stop products that fail these checks from going live.
Catalyn can’t stop edits made in Shopify admin, but it notices them. You’ll see what changed outside the app and choose whether to keep it or restore the approved version.
No. Files are stored privately for your store and deleted once they’re imported. When AI helps map columns, it only sees the column headers and a handful of sample values — never the whole file — and you can turn AI matching off. See the privacy policy.
No, deliberately. Catalyn covers the jobs growing Shopify stores actually have — supplier imports, completeness rules and safe publishing — without the cost and setup of an enterprise PIM.
No. Publishing, updates to live products, archiving and undo all go through an update that shows every field before and after. Nothing is written to Shopify until you approve it.
When you ask it to. “Fix with AI” writes the fields a product’s failing checks ask for — description, SEO fields, tags, image alt text and category — from the facts already in the product. It won’t invent materials or specifications; it tells you what’s missing instead. You edit or skip every suggestion, and live products only change after you approve.
Yes. Add the supplier’s web link, Google Sheet or FTP/SFTP server as a feed and Catalyn checks it on a schedule using the column mapping you confirmed. New products arrive as drafts; anything that would change a live product waits for your approval, unless you allow small price changes to publish automatically. If the file’s columns change or it suddenly shrinks, the feed pauses and asks you. Products a supplier stops listing are flagged, never deleted.
Not yet. Stock from supplier files is shown and used in checks (for example, spotting a pack size in the stock column), but Catalyn doesn’t write stock to Shopify.
All Catalyn data is deleted within 48 hours. Products already in your Shopify store aren’t affected.
